The Director of Sales-Select Service at SpringHill Suites San Jose Fremont holds a crucial leadership position responsible for overseeing sales and marketing operations for a Select Service hotel. The role focuses on achieving optimal occupancy and Average Daily Rate (ADR) growth to maximize total revenue while meeting or exceeding hotel profit objectives. This position manages all aspects of the hotel sales department, including direct sales, follow-up, sales administration, hiring, training, coaching, and managing staff. Additionally, the Director oversees the sales and marketing budget, forecasts, advertising, marketing, and business plans for the hotel, ensuring alignment with approved plans and budgets. This management-level role requires a high degree of commitment, as associates work as much as necessary each day to fulfill job responsibilities, including overtime when applicable. The Director of Sales-Select Service is expected to proactively coordinate group, transient, and catering sales solicitations and bookings to maximize revenue. They develop, implement, and manage annual budgets and marketing plans to enhance hotel performance across rate, occupancy, and food & beverage revenue streams. The role demands exceptional verbal and written communication skills for negotiating and influencing clients and management. The Director must exhibit strong analytical and strategic vision to set proactive sales strategies based on thorough market awareness and trend evaluation. Responsibilities also include training hotel staff to recognize and capitalize on sales opportunities, maintaining visibility in the local community and industry organizations, and occasionally acting on behalf of the General Manager. Frequent travel is required to maintain client relationships and support sales activities. The ideal candidate will have progressive hotel sales experience or relevant educational qualifications, be a proficient user of Microsoft Office products, and possess a deep understanding of financial information and sales principles.
