The Sous Chef position at Oakmont of Santa Clarita offers a full-time opportunity with flexible AM shift hours, Sunday through Thursday, in a rewarding senior living environment. The pay range for this role is $20.75 to $22.25 per hour, reflecting the importance of culinary excellence in enhancing the residents' dining experience. In this role, the Sous Chef is responsible for preparing food in accordance with approved menus and adhering to property policies, procedures, and all health and safety regulations. The Sous Chef supports the Culinary Services Director and may assume management duties in their absence, including staffing and supervision, ensuring continuous high-quality food service. Key responsibilities include assisting with meal planning, preparation, and delivery while guaranteeing meals are appetizing, nutritious, and comply with dietary requirements. The Sous Chef helps maintain sanitary work environments, monitors food portion control, manages inventory, and orders food supplies within budgetary guidelines. This role demands close collaboration with the Culinary Services Director to specify and select food products, optimize menu plans, and improve overall quality and efficiency within the Culinary Department.   • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Prefer six months of experience in a restaurant or similar environment as a Cook
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Must pass health screenings including physical and TB tests
  • Must comply with Covid-19 safety protocols including vaccination and PPE use
  • Able to operate cooking and office equipment
  • Able to work flexible hours including Sunday to Thursday shifts
  • Able to interact compassionately with seniors including cognitively impaired residents
