About SkyWest Airlines: SkyWest Airlines connects millions of passengers each month to destinations across North America as a partner for 'United Express', 'Delta Connection', 'American Eagle', and 'Alaska SkyWest'. We operate a diverse fleet of CRJ and Embraer aircraft. We are seeking 'Bilingual' Flight Attendants who are fluent in both 'Spanish' and English to join our team. This is a specialized 'entry-level' role, meaning 'no experience' as a Flight Attendant is required, but 'fluency in Spanish is mandatory'. You will be a safety professional first and a customer service expert second, providing an enhanced level of service and 'language support' to our Spanish-speaking passengers. This role is critical in our major hubs like Los Angeles (LAX). Your New Career – The Role: As a Bilingual Flight Attendant, you have all the responsibilities of a standard Flight Attendant with the additional, crucial duty of 'language translation'. Your primary mission is to ensure passenger safety and comfort. You will also be the designated 'Spanish-speaking' crew member on flights to and from Spanish-speaking destinations or on routes with a high volume of Spanish-speaking customers. You will assist with 'safety announcements in Spanish', translate instructions during emergencies, and provide customer service to passengers who may not speak English. This role requires all the flexibility of a standard crew member, including working 'day shift', 'night shift', 'weekend shift', and 'on-call' reserve schedules. The Training – Your Foundation for Success: Your career begins with our intensive, paid training program in Salt Lake City, UT. This program includes all the standard Flight Attendant training (aircraft systems, emergency procedures, first aid, multi-partner service) plus a 'language qualification' component. You will be tested on your 'Spanish fluency' (reading, writing, and speaking) to ensure you can accurately translate complex safety and medical information. This is a 'challenging' program that will certify you as an FAA safety professional. A Day in the Life – What to Expect: Your day mirrors that of a standard Flight Attendant, but with added responsibilities. * 'Pre-Flight:' During the crew briefing, you will be identified as the 'Spanish-speaking' Flight Attendant. You will be responsible for 'translating' key safety announcements for your pre-flight recording or for performing them live. * 'Boarding:' You will be a 'critical resource' for Spanish-speaking passengers, helping them find their seats, understand baggage policies, and feel comfortable. * 'In-Flight:' During the flight, you will perform all standard safety and service duties. You will also be called upon to assist other crew members with any 'translation' needs, from a simple service request to a 'critical medical or safety instruction'. In an emergency, your role is vital to ensuring 'all' passengers understand commands. * 'Post-Flight:' You will assist with deplaning and may be asked to help translate for passengers needing assistance with connections or customs forms. Why SkyWest? This specialized role often comes with 'additional pay' (a language override) and may offer more desirable 'schedule flexibility' or base choices. You'll receive all the great benefits of being a SkyWest employee, including 'unmatched travel privileges' on all four of our major partners, comprehensive benefits, and a supportive, 'people-first' company culture.
