This position is essential to the operational workflow, involving the sorting and handling of freight as it moves in and out of over-the-road equipment, containers, city trailers, and straight trucks. The logistics specialist will be responsible for operating forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload freight, ensuring all activities comply with state, federal, and Department of Transportation regulations. This role demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, as it involves secure loading techniques, quality control checks, and reporting any damage or discrepancies with shipments. A typical day will include tasks such as loading trailers, maintaining and using dock tools for securing cargo, and verifying shipments by reading labels carefully to ensure accuracy.
