The Senior Director of Gaming Operations at Derby City Gaming & Hotel is a pivotal leadership role tasked with overseeing the comprehensive operations of the Gaming Department to ensure guests have a superior and seamless gaming experience. This individual supports the General Manager and Assistant General Manager to effectively manage not only the gaming floor but also the Beverage Server operations, maintenance of gaming equipment, and human resource management on the gaming floors across multiple property locations, including the Poplar Level and Downtown sites. The position demands expert budgeting skills, team leadership across departments, and the ability to sustain optimal gaming performance and customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include hiring, training, and managing gaming and beverage staff, enforcing policies on responsible alcohol consumption, ensuring regulatory compliance including Bank Secrecy Act adherence, and implementing strategic initiatives connected to human resource management and machine performance. This leadership role requires a high degree of coordination to optimize the gaming mix and pricing strategy while maintaining a safe and secure environment for both employees and customers. Operational duties extend to approving large jackpots, overseeing equipment repairs and conversions, and managing staffing levels to maintain efficient operations. The role also involves collaborating with various departmental leaders and regional teams to drive performance and uphold the highest standards of customer service and professional conduct. The position requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays to cover operational needs and includes occasional travel to other locations within Kentucky.
