The Manager, Safety and Training, plays a crucial leadership role within MTM, based in Concord, NC. This position is responsible for overseeing the implementation and management of comprehensive safety and training programs aligned with the directives of the Leadership of Safety Administration. The manager ensures that all operations comply with applicable State and Federal safety regulations, as well as corporate and client-specific guidelines and policies. As a key influencer in cultivating a safety culture, this role collaborates across departments, including operations, safety, and maintenance, to maintain consistency and effectiveness in safety practices.
This role involves direct management of the Corporate Safety Incentives and programs, including the assignment of Safety Points, and active involvement in the company and client Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives. The Manager will oversee crucial functions like FTA drug and alcohol DAMIS reporting, insurance claims management, and workers’ compensation programs to minimize risks and control claim costs effectively. Another important aspect of this position includes delivering both classroom and practical transportation-related training, ensuring employees meet or exceed the training requirements stipulated in contracts.
The Manager also plays a pivotal role in promoting employee responsibility towards safety goals, managing safety manuals and programs, responding to accident investigations, and facilitating communication between the safety committee and SMS Ambassador groups. Furthermore, this position acts as a liaison in the hiring process related to safety personnel and ensures compliance with DOT and FTA regulations pertaining to drug and alcohol programs.
Offered on a full-time basis contingent upon contract award, this role provides a competitive salary ranging from $55,920 to $98,160 annually depending on experience and qualifications.                 - high school diploma or g.e.d.
 - bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field
 - minimum 5 years of transit/paratransit safety management experience
 - previous management experience in a union environment
 - thorough knowledge of all applicable safety rules, regulations – ADA, FTA and DOT to include all corporate programs
 - must possess a valid driver’s license
 - must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and dot physical and maintain physical throughout employment
