At the Michaels store in Huntsville-East, AL, we are seeking a dynamic and energetic individual to fill the role of Event Coordinator. This full-time position involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating a variety of events within the store, including children's birthday parties and craft classes, to deliver engaging, memorable, and stress-free experiences for guests of all ages, ranging from young children to seniors. The Event Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring each event runs smoothly, from initial client communications and event setup to the execution of activities and post-event cleanup.
The role requires excellent customer service skills, creativity, and the capacity to manage multiple events simultaneously. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to engage with clients by guiding participants through craft projects, organizing fun activities such as face painting, and managing party add-ons like goody bags and balloons, all while maintaining adherence to company standards. The position also involves routine operational responsibilities within the store such as assisting customers with product selection, performing fast and friendly checkouts, and participating in the organization and recovery of merchandise.
As a central figure in creating enjoyable in-store experiences, the Event Coordinator will handle various administrative tasks including answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork related to events. Additionally, the role requires flexibility to adjust event plans according to client feedback and to devise contingency strategies to address unforeseen issues. Beyond facilitating events, the coordinator is expected to uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards by preparing event spaces and ensuring they are thoroughly cleaned after each use.

The work environment includes a public retail setting with climate-controlled public areas and some stock rooms that may not be climate controlled. Work hours may include nights, weekends, and early mornings to accommodate store operations and event schedules.
