The role primarily involves handling customer transactions, which includes scanning merchandise, processing payments, and ensuring all firearm sales comply with the stringent regulations set forth by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). This includes the accurate entry of firearms sales data and managing licenses through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) website, requiring detailed knowledge of administrative and compliance procedures. Customer service is a central focus of this position. The employee will address customer needs and resolve any issues to maintain satisfaction, support sales by accurately processing transactions such as sales, returns, and layaways, and manage special orders through the point of sale (POS) system. Additionally, this role includes answering incoming phone calls and routing them appropriately, promoting a positive in-store culture, assisting with inventory management between the sales floor and warehouse, and performing light maintenance such as cleaning and organizing merchandise displays. Beyond the direct transactional and customer-facing duties, the position demands a commitment to safety and security protocols within the store. Employees are expected to enforce health, safety, and security rules to protect both customers and staff.
