The position available is for a Custodian role within the Facilities Operations Zone 1 department at Wayne State University's Detroit campus. This full-time, regular staff position is essential for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of campus buildings, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Custodians play a critical role in the daily operations of the university by providing janitorial services, managing waste disposal, cleaning classrooms, offices, laboratories, and other campus areas, as well as handling emergency cleaning duties as needed.
Custodians are considered essential personnel, required to report during university emergency closure periods. The role involves operating various cleaning equipment, adhering to safety protocols, and performing both routine and specialized cleaning tasks. With an hourly wage of $15.01, this position offers competitive compensation reflecting the importance of maintaining the university's facilities. - High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with cleaning and janitorial services preferred
