The position of Day Porter at FirstService Residential is a vital role responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and orderliness of buildings, facilities, and common areas in residential communities. This full-time role offers a competitive hourly wage of $18 to $20, commensurate with experience and education. The Day Porter’s primary duties involve cleaning floors, walls, restrooms, and removing rubbish on a scheduled basis to ensure all areas are well-kept and inviting. Beyond cleaning, the Day Porter performs routine maintenance activities, reports necessary repairs, and ensures that the community spaces are free from debris and hazards. Working as a Day Porter requires strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive interactions with residents, vendors, and other staff members, contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment. The role demands physical stamina, as it involves lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for prolonged periods, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. It also requires the ability to operate equipment such as blowers and power washers and the safe handling of cleaning chemicals. • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• work is performed in a variety of environmental conditions, with exposure to outdoor temperatures, weather variations, traffic and equipment noise, equipment vibrations, vehicle and/or chemical fumes, chemicals such as cleaning solvents and grease, machinery and their moving parts and dust
