The role in focus is for an Environmental Services team member within the MetroHealth System. This full-time position involves maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across assigned hospital areas and buildings, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The Environmental Services staff play a critical role in infection control by adhering rigorously to all health and safety regulations and workplace guidelines. Given the hospital setting, the role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong adherence to infection control protocols, and the ability to operate specialized cleaning equipment such as high-speed buffers, auto and rotary scrubbers, as well as wet and dry suction machines. Rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays are part of the work schedule to ensure continuous coverage. The role offers a biweekly work schedule of 80 hours, with shifts typically running from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
This position requires individuals who are dependable, proactive, and maintain a high standard of work ethic reflective of the MetroHealth mission, vision, values, and customer service expectations. The candidate must be capable of reading and writing English and have prior experience in an Environmental Services or similar department to efficiently manage the equipment and procedures involved. While a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, practical experience combined with the ability to operate cleaning machinery proficiently is essential for success in this role.
