The role of Shift Leader at Pei Wei is a critical position that assists the management team in performing day-to-day operations in the restaurant. Shift Leaders at Pei Wei are responsible for sharing the responsibility of training and guiding team members to uphold the company’s standards for guest service and kitchen execution. This role demands a versatile individual comfortable working across different facets of the restaurant, including front-of-house operations and back-office systems. Success in this position hinges on the ability to lead by example, demonstrating professional behavior, excellent communication, and effective team management during shifts. Shift Leaders also take on the essential role of leading the team in the absence of management, acting as a role model, and ensuring the restaurant runs efficiently.
A Shift Leader at Pei Wei is expected to be certified and trained in both culinary and front-of-house operations and to maintain these credentials actively. They must be certified in food handling and adept at teaching company safety and health protocols. Effective communication skills are essential, as the Shift Leader must engage with team members, management, and the Regional Support Office through various channels. This position includes responsibilities such as coaching team members, delegating tasks, verifying shift duties, handling cash transactions, and addressing guest relations. Additionally, the Shift Leader supports onboarding and training new employees and participates in store manager meetings. The role also involves administrative duties, such as scheduling, order inventory, managing cash handling procedures, and reporting.
This position requires resilience and dedication, as Shift Leaders must be able to stand and move efficiently throughout their shift, lifting and handling objects where necessary. - High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 6 months shift lead experience for external candidates
- 4 months Pei Wei experience for internal candidates
- Certified in culinary and front-of-the-house operations
- Certified food handler
- Ability to stand and walk for 4 to 10 hours per shift
- Ability to reach, bend, balance, and transport objects weighing up to 30 lbs repeatedly during a shift
- Ability to hear with 100 percent accuracy with correction
- Ability to see at 20/20 vision with correction
