UPMC East is currently hiring for a full-time Patient and Family Concierge position, an essential role focused on enhancing the patient and visitor experience throughout the hospital. This role requires working three shifts per week, Monday through Sunday between 7 am and 7 pm, providing a consistent presence during some of the most critical hours of patient interactions. The position plays a vital role in supporting patients, families, and visitors by offering compassionate, courteous assistance across various hospital departments and functions. The Patient and Family Concierge at UPMC East is a multifaceted role responsible for delivering exceptional service and support that ensures a positive, welcoming, and seamless experience within the hospital setting. This role entails a wide range of duties tailored to meet the evolving needs of the hospital environment. Key responsibilities include destination coordination, environmental services, dietary assistance, patient transport, and supply and equipment management. This dynamic position requires the Concierge to be adaptable, proactive, and deeply compassionate, always focusing on patient satisfaction and comfort from the moment they arrive until their discharge. Destination coordination encompasses greeting patients and families warmly, providing clear directions, and escorting patients and visitors to their appropriate locations within the hospital, while respecting patient confidentiality. The Concierge also supports parking services, including issuing courtesy parking discounts and managing patient scooters. Environmental services duties involve maintaining cleanliness and order in various hospital areas, including patient rooms and public spaces, assuring a hygienic and safe environment for all. Dietary services include assembling and delivering meals according to patient-specific requirements, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring proper sanitation during meal service. Transportation services require the safe and timely movement of patients, equipment, and lab specimens throughout the hospital, along with the inspection and cleaning of transport equipment. Supply and equipment management ensures the unit-specific ordering, stocking, and distribution of necessary supplies and equipment, including monitoring expiration dates and maintaining proper inventory control. In addition to these specific duties, the Concierge engages in general patient support activities such as responding to call lights, assisting with patient mobility, and maintaining a friendly, helpful demeanor that embodies the UPMC values and experience principles. The position also demands adherence to infection control and safety procedures, mandatory reporting requirements, and other established hospital protocols.
