This hiring opportunity is based at Saint Martin's University in Lacey, WA, where Bon Appetit operates dining services for the university community. The position open for immediate hire is a full-time Pastry Chef role, scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm. This role is crucial in maintaining the quality and creativity of the university's pastry offerings. The position offers an hourly wage ranging from $24.00 to $26.50, along with valuable perks such as free parking, shift meals, and a uniform.
The Pastry Chef will be responsible for crafting top-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods that not only satisfy but excite the palate of students, faculty, and visitors. The position requires managing daily pastry production and distribution, ensuring adherence to recipes and standards, controlling food costs, and maintaining appropriate quantities for production needs. Maintaining superior food handling practices, presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures is key to this role's success.
Beyond direct baking duties, the Pastry Chef supervises hourly pastry associates. This includes conducting interviews, scheduling, payroll oversight, training, counseling, performance reviews, and disciplinary recommendations when necessary. Maintaining strict sanitation and equipment standards in line with federal, state, and corporate regulations ensures a safe and efficient kitchen environment.
Additionally, the Pastry Chef assists in planning and implementing seasonal menus, ordering and managing inventory of pastry supplies, and performing other duties as assigned by management.
