The Pastry Chef position is an exciting opportunity to join the esteemed culinary team on board American Cruise Lines’ fleet for the 2025 season. This role requires exceptional culinary expertise and creativity in crafting an extensive array of desserts, breads, pastries, and confectionary items that delight guests and crew alike. The Pastry Chef will work under the guidance of the Executive Chef to execute the daily menu matrix, ensuring all baked goods and dessert offerings meet the highest standards of flavor, quality, and presentation. A deep understanding of flavor pairings and an artistic sense of food presentation are essential to excel in this role.
Living and working onboard one of American Cruise Lines’ vessels, the Pastry Chef will experience a unique and dynamic environment equipped with modern galley facilities boasting spectacular river views. This position demands dedication, as chefs work approximately 14 hours per day, 7 days a week for 6-week rotations onboard, followed by 2 weeks of unpaid vacation. The company supports its culinary team by providing travel to and from the vessel, comfortable living quarters, uniforms, and paid training from industry experts. - High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 3 years of professional experience in pastry production
- Ability to work long hours under physically demanding conditions
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to maintain hygiene and safety standards
- Willingness to live and work onboard a cruise ship for extended periods
- Pass pre-employment drug screening
- Pass a criminal background check
- Possession of a Transportation Worker Identification Credential
