The pastry baker role at Madison Sourdough involves the preparation of croissants and other laminated pastries, as well as cookies, tart and pie doughs. This position also provides opportunities to learn the art of cake making and decoration, ensuring a broad spectrum of skill development. The role emphasizes both experienced candidates and newcomers who are enthusiastic and willing to learn. The work schedule comprises 10-hour shifts, four days a week, with start times at 5 am and occasional rotating opening shifts at 2 am, approximately three to seven times per month. The wage ranges from $20 to $22 per hour, complemented by a tip-sharing system, rewarding both skill and dedication.
Candidates will be expected to maintain food sanitation and safety standards, ideally possessing basic knowledge in these areas, particularly from commercial kitchen or bakery experience. The role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift heavy items – 50 pounds above the waist and 30 pounds to the shoulders. Punctuality, reliability, and availability on weekends are essential attributes for success in this position.
