The role of Culinary Manager at City Winery is a rare opportunity for seasoned culinary professionals to lead and innovate within this exclusive setting. Reporting directly to upper management, the Culinary Manager oversees all kitchen production areas, ensuring every aspect of food preparation and presentation meets the exacting standards of the company’s culinary vision. This leadership role is hands-on and responsible for scheduling, supervising multiple kitchen shifts, and managing kitchen staff effectively. The Culinary Manager ensures that all food production adheres to established recipes, quality specifications, and safety regulations while maintaining the highest level of efficiency and professionalism.
Key responsibilities include developing production methods that enhance productivity and consistency, maintaining strict sanitation and safety standards, and forging strong partnerships with vendors and internal teams. The Culinary Manager is also vital in training kitchen staff, fostering a positive and professional work culture, and managing financial aspects such as food costs and payroll. Additionally, this role involves collaboration with marketing and event teams to curate seasonal menus, plan culinary components of specialty events, and keep abreast of market trends and new culinary ideas.
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of culinary expertise, strategic leadership abilities, and financial acumen. With a minimum of five years’ experience in culinary management or a related leadership role, the candidate must demonstrate proficiency in multitasking within dynamic environments and possess strong decision-making skills. Proficiency in health and safety regulations, along with ServSafe certification, is essential. The role requires a capable individual who can maintain exemplary food quality standards, lead and motivate a diverse team, and contribute to the ongoing success and expansion of City Winery. Flexible scheduling including nights, weekends, and holidays is necessary to support the 24/7 demands of the hospitality and live entertainment industry.

- Minimum 5 years experience in overall kitchen leadership or similar role
- AOS Culinary School Graduate and/or related training is a plus
- Functional working knowledge of all Health Department, OSHA, and related regulations
- Ability to multitask, delegate, and manage several projects/tasks at once in high pressure, fast paced environment
- Must have demonstrated decision making and trouble-shooting skills with superior level of attention to detail
- Financial/business acumen and excellent analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills, and ability to lead and work as a team
- Strong presentation skills both written and oral
- Must have proficient computer and technological skills
- Must have ServSafe food handler's certificate
- Ability to perform physical requirements including standing and walking around for extended periods, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying loads of up to 50 pounds
- Able and willing to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
