The role of Helicopter Maintenance Test Pilot/Program Relief Pilot at Vanderbilt LifeFlight involves a multifaceted set of responsibilities centered around ensuring the airworthiness and safe operation of helicopters after maintenance or modification. This position requires conducting maintenance test flights, aircraft ferrying, charter assignments, and serving as a relief pilot when necessary. The successful candidate will function as a pivotal liaison between flight operations and maintenance teams to coordinate and address aircraft concerns effectively. This role demands a high level of professionalism, sound judgment, and communication skills to interact seamlessly with customers, co-workers, management, and the public. The pilot will maintain qualifications consistent with Metro Aviation standards, perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks, troubleshoot aircraft anomalies, and ensure accurate documentation for each flight operation. Candidates are expected to adhere strictly to regulatory requirements including FAA regulations, Metro Aviation’s General Operations Manual, and safety policies. The position demands extensive flight experience including specific hours on turbine helicopters and flight as pilot-in-command. Experience with EC135 or EC145 aircraft is particularly valuable.
