The role of Logistics Supervisor at Forward Air involves overseeing the fast-paced shipping and dock operations to ensure timely, safe, and damage-free loading and unloading of freight. This position is a full-time, Monday to Friday schedule from 8 am to 5 pm, with a compensation package of $102,800 annually, emphasizing the company’s commitment to attract experienced and capable professionals. The Logistics Supervisor directly coordinates dockworkers, drivers, and support personnel to manage resource allocation efficiently and uphold standards for quality and safety. Responsibilities include planning and executing load plans that facilitate safe vehicle operations, managing dispatch for over-the-road line haul drivers, and enforcing hazardous materials handling according to Department of Transportation regulations. The supervisor also plays a critical role in training dockworkers and drivers, providing performance feedback, and making disciplinary recommendations when necessary. This leadership position demands experience in cargo operations, supervisory skills in high-volume environments, knowledge of freight and hazardous materials handling, and strong communication skills at all organizational levels. The ideal candidate possesses a proactive "can do" attitude with a solid work ethic, is adept at problem-solving, and is flexible to work weekends or night shifts as needed. They must also be physically capable of handling frequent lifting tasks up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting up to 90 pounds.
