This job opportunity is for a part-time, event-based Food Preparation position at St. Thomas University, managed under Levy, a Compass Group company. The role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about food and eager to contribute to a world-class culinary experience in an academic and event-setting environment. The Food Preparation associate will be responsible for preparing food items in compliance with all federal, state, and corporate food safety standards and procedures. The key focus is on ensuring quality food service by preparing meals according to standardized recipes and instructions, maintaining proper portion sizes, ensuring food is presented attractively and served at correct temperatures.
In this role, the associate will prepare ingredients by chopping vegetables, marinating proteins, and measuring seasonings to support kitchen operations. They will assist in preparing menu items such as sauces, sides, and entrees while adhering strictly to chef instructions and established recipes. Maintaining an orderly, clean, and sanitized workstation in alignment with food safety guidelines is a crucial part of the job. The associate will collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure efficient and timely food production, monitor inventory levels, and communicate replenishment needs to supervisors. Additionally, the associate is responsible for cleaning the kitchen area post-preparation, storing or discarding excess food safely, and ensuring all food and supplies are stored per company standards.
The Food Preparation associate will also operate and maintain kitchen equipment under supervision, assist with production planning, help with record-keeping and reporting, and support ordering and receiving of food and supplies. Safety in the workplace is paramount—associates are required to use appropriate protective gear such as medium weight cut gloves when handling knives, oven mitts when handling hot pans, slip-resistant shoes, and employ proper lifting techniques.

                - Must hold or be willing to get a current ServSafe Food Handling Certification
 - Previous experience in a professional kitchen or food preparation role is preferred
