The Union League Guard House, located at 953 Youngs Ford Rd, Gladwyne, PA, is a prestigious private club known for its rich history and commitment to exceptional hospitality. The kitchen team plays a critical role in maintaining these high standards by delivering exquisite food prepared with precision and care. We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook to join our kitchen department, reporting directly to the Executive Chef. This is a full-time position based on-site at our Gladwyne location. The role focuses primarily on preparing a la carte dinner service from Tuesday through Saturday, including special holiday events such as Easter, Mother's Day, and Thanksgiving. The club is closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, providing well-deserved breaks for our team members. The Line Cook will be responsible for ensuring that all food items are prepared according to consistent quality standards, production requirements, and portion control as per established recipe cards. Additionally, the role requires maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen environment at all times. The successful candidate will participate actively in mise en place and station setup, responsible for initiating food preparations that can be completed ahead of service without exceeding estimated needs. Operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment such as deep fryers, broilers, stoves, steamers, food processors, mixers, slicers, ovens, steam tables, tilt kettles, waffle irons, and flat top grills are included within daily duties. The Line Cook will also handle food inventory management, including dating and rotating food containers, verifying proper storage temperatures, and minimizing waste through effective usage control. Collaboration and professional harmony with kitchen and service staff is essential for smooth operation during service hours. The ideal candidate will have completed culinary school or an equivalent education and possess at least two years of culinary or related professional experience, reflecting advanced culinary knowledge. Practical skills such as proficient knife handling, multitasking ability, and familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment operation are vital. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform bending and lifting tasks.
