Youth Villages is a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to supporting youth, young people, and their families across the United States who face a wide range of emotional, mental, and behavioral challenges. Established over 30 years ago, Youth Villages has earned recognition from esteemed institutions such as Harvard Business School, U.S. News & World Report, and The White House due to its impactful, results-oriented approach to youth mental and behavioral health. With a dedicated staff of more than 5,000 professionals working in 29 states and the District of Columbia, the organization serves over 40,000 young people annually. Youth Villages' commitment extends beyond direct services, fostering partnerships and engaging in advocacy to maximize its positive impact.
The role of LifeSet Specialist plays a vital part in the mission of Youth Villages. LifeSet is an intensive, community-based program designed to provide a seamless transition from foster care to successful adulthood for young people aged 17 to 23 years. The program offers comprehensive support in critical areas such as interpersonal connectedness, social support, housing, mental and physical health, career and employment, life skills, and education. LifeSet Specialists empower these young adults by connecting them to essential community resources and equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for self-sufficiency. Their responsibilities include managing caseloads, delivering therapeutic services aligned with the LifeSet Model Principles, providing crisis support on a 24/7 basis, and engaging with the youth's broader support systems to foster positive outcomes.
In addition to LifeSet services, specialists may support young adults who remain in foster care up to age 23 through Extension of Foster Care (EFC), providing case management, placement assistance, and judicial oversight. This position requires flexibility in scheduling as it aligns with the availability and needs of the young people served. The role demands strong organizational, communication, and clinical skills to effectively implement treatment plans, conduct assessments, participate in supervision, and attend court hearings when necessary. The position offers a competitive salary range of $52,000 to $60,000 per year, based on education and clinical license status, and includes various benefits designed to support employee well-being and professional growth. A valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and auto insurance are required due to the community-based nature of the work. Youth Villages fosters a diverse, inclusive working environment committed to equity and anti-racism, ensuring respect and fairness for all employees and those they serve.
