This role of Chef carries significant responsibilities, reporting directly to the Store Director and Deli Manager. It is a non-exempt position that demands a blend of creativity, leadership, and operational expertise in professional food preparation. The Chef is accountable for studying and developing recipes, setting up menus, and preparing high-quality dishes that align with the company's standards. A central aspect of this role includes delegating tasks efficiently within the kitchen staff to ensure all food is prepared and delivered timely without compromising quality. Additionally, the Chef must be well-versed in sanitation regulations, food safety protocols, and compliance standards issued by the USDA, FDA, and local/state authorities.
Beyond daily kitchen operations, the Chef is expected to have extensive experience and deep knowledge across various culinary techniques and equipment, including grills, rotisserie, and fryers. The role emphasizes effective budget management with proven skills in optimizing food and labor costs, developing key production components in collaboration with third-party suppliers, and directly driving the success of culinary promotions and programs.
