The role offered is for a Terminal Equipment Operator who plays a crucial function in the safe and efficient operation of terminal equipment related to the receiving, storing, transferring, and loading of refined fuel products. The position encompasses responsibilities for maintaining equipment and premises, performing quality sampling and testing of products to ensure operational standards are met. This job is essential to the day-to-day functioning of the terminal and contributes directly to the safety and satisfaction of both team members and customers.
The Terminal Equipment Operator is entrusted with operating refined fuel process equipment for loading and unloading storage tanks and must maintain a vigilant focus on personal and coworker safety by adhering strictly to company policies and procedures. Job duties include gauging storage tanks, monitoring temperature readouts, collecting product samples for analysis, and conducting routine maintenance and compliance inspections that range from daily to annual checks. The operator logs findings, manages product inventory data, and conducts daily inspections to identify safety risks and maintain housekeeping standards.
Further responsibilities involve preventive and routine maintenance on equipment such as pumps, meters, compressors, motors, tanks, pipes, and the terminal building itself. Calibration and adjustment of additive injection systems are also key tasks, along with modeling behaviors that reinforce Pilot Company’s commitment to exceptional guest and team member support. Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and organizational mandates is fundamental, and the operator may be assigned additional duties as needed.
This role is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude, a basic understanding of electrical systems, and knowledge of bulk storage loading racks and automation systems. Effective communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a capacity to work independently or as part of a team are essential. The position involves physical activity, including climbing, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods, and requires the ability to work under various weather conditions and lift up to 75 pounds. Travel requirements are minimal, less than 5%, making it a largely site-based role.
