The role of Traveling Site Safety Manager at MasTec Inc. is a critical position focused on supporting safety across multiple project sites within the industrial construction domain. This position is primarily location-based with an extensive travel component averaging over 80 percent, covering diverse job sites throughout the assigned project area. The Traveling Site Safety Manager travels by company vehicle, and receives a fuel card and per diem to cover meals and lodging expenses. This ensures that they are well-supported in conducting thorough safety inspections and collaborating closely with project managers, site supervisors, and safety personnel. The Traveling Site Safety Manager is tasked with developing and enforcing comprehensive safety protocols tailored to each project’s specific requirements. They preview upcoming projects to identify and assess potential risks, design detailed safety and emergency action plans, and ensure ongoing compliance with these plans as well as all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Their responsibilities include documenting hazardous conditions, conducting accident investigations, and recommending corrective or preventative measures to maintain a safe working environment. The role also involves managing safety training, auditing compliance records, and supervising Safety Specialists when assigned to certain project sites. This position demands not only robust technical knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations but also exemplary leadership skills to promote a strong safety culture among employees, subcontractors, and clients. The manager acts as a professional representative of MasTec at all levels internally and externally and is expected to deliver regular safety updates to project management and safety leadership. Candidates for this role should have significant construction safety experience, ideally with expertise in excavation, trenching, and soil mechanics.
