This job opening is for a Safety-Sensitive position at the City of Murfreesboro Airport. The role involves a variety of operational responsibilities centered on the fueling of aircraft, managing airport communications, monitoring airport systems, and performing both airside and landside maintenance duties. The position requires the handling of potentially hazardous materials, such as aviation fuel, and therefore candidates who successfully complete the interview process will be subject to mandatory drug and alcohol testing to ensure safety compliance.
The Airport Operations Worker is tasked with ensuring that fueling procedures are conducted safely and efficiently, accurate fueling records are maintained, and fees are properly collected. The role demands excellent communication skills in spoken and written English to effectively coordinate with airport management, pilots, and other team members to uphold all safety standards. Additional responsibilities include supporting the Airport Manager in enforcing airport rules, regulations, and participating in emergency response plans when needed.
Furthermore, the position includes supporting daily airport operational functions such as preparing reports, inspecting facilities and equipment, supervising part-time staff, and maintaining cleanliness of the terminal and airport grounds. The worker will also operate lawn care equipment and assist other grounds and maintenance teams as necessary. Physical stamina and the ability to engage in moderate physical labor are required, as the duties often involve walking or standing throughout shifts, climbing ladders and heavy vehicles, and exerting considerable physical effort.
This is a full-time position with a Monday through Thursday work schedule from 12pm to 7pm, offering a stable and consistent work week for the successful candidate. The job requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent, and a valid driver's license is mandatory. Prior relevant experience is preferred but not required, as the City of Murfreesboro is committed to providing training and support to ensure the chosen candidate can perform all duties effectively.
