The Environmental Services Associate position at UnityPoint Health plays a pivotal role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment throughout the hospital. With a $1500 sign-on bonus incentive, this role involves critical daily tasks such as cleaning and replenishing supplies in patient rooms, nurses stations, lounges, bathrooms, offices, as well as performing isolation and discharge cleaning of patient rooms. Environmental Services Associates will also engage in in-depth project work as assigned by the department, following established standard procedures aligned with hospital objectives. The role requires the operation of various cleaning devices and equipment including housekeeper carts, germicidal disinfectant chemicals, high dusters, microfiber mops, ladders, vacuums, mini extractors, and the advanced Xenex robot for thorough disinfection processes. Candidates will be expected to uphold the highest standards of hospital and department compliance, particularly regarding federal healthcare programs such as Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring that all activities reflect the hospital’s commitment to ethical behavior and regulatory adherence. Ongoing education and competency renewal are essential components of this role, with mandatory completion of hospital-wide orientation, annual competencies, and department-specific training. Due to the healthcare setting, associates must adhere to required vaccinations for the safety of patients and co-workers, maintained through periodic health assessments. This role also emphasizes customer service excellence; Environmental Services Associates must communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff alike, consistently promoting the philosophy and services of St. Luke's Hospital and the Environmental Services Department.
