Hellas Bakery & Pita is a renowned family-owned and operated establishment situated in the heart of Tarpon Springs, Florida. For over 50 years, it has been a beloved local destination known for its authentic Greek pastries, breads, and traditional meals. Rooted deeply in a strong tradition of hospitality and culinary excellence, Hellas takes pride in offering a memorable experience that combines authentic food with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The bakery and restaurant have earned a reputation as a community cornerstone, consistently delivering top-quality food and exceptional service to both locals and visitors. This dedication to hospitality is reflected in the company culture, where the team operates like a close-knit family, valuing collaboration, respect, and mutual support among employees and guests alike.
We are currently seeking an experienced Host/Hostess to join our team—an individual who acts as the first impression and the heartbeat of our guest experience. In this crucial role, you will set a warm, welcoming, and professional tone from the moment guests walk through the door. Responsibilities include managing reservations, orchestrating seating flow effectively, and facilitating smooth communication between the front and back of house. You will leverage table management systems, such as Seven Rooms, to strategically manage guest seating to ensure efficiency and a seamless dining experience. This position demands a balance of hospitality and operational efficiency, requiring multitasking skills, calmness under pressure, and a commitment to delivering superior customer care. Success in this role translates to every guest beginning their dining journey with exceptional service and feeling genuinely valued.
At Hellas, we emphasize team leadership by example. Hosts and hostesses are expected to jump in wherever needed—whether assisting in checkout procedures or supporting other front-of-house staff. The role also involves maintaining a clean and orderly host stand, entrance, and lobby areas to ensure the environment remains inviting. Resolving guest concerns with empathy, confidence, and a team-oriented mindset is vital to uphold the high standards Hellas is known for. Furthermore, clear and consistent communication across all teams is essential to maintain the smooth flow of restaurant operations. Employees must be professional in appearance, embody pride in their presence, and serve as brand ambassadors who set the tone for guests from the outset.
This position requires candidates to be at least 18 years old and capable of obtaining Food Safety Certification within 60 days, emphasizing our commitment to health and safety standards. Physically, the job includes standing for extended periods, occasionally lifting 25 to 50 pounds, and requires close, peripheral, and focused vision. Those who thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment and have experience in guest seating platforms will find this role particularly suited to their skills.
Hellas offers a competitive base pay beginning at $18 per hour and comprehensive benefits for full-time employees, including health insurance with significant employer contributions, vision, dental, life, and disability insurance options. Part-time and full-time team members can also participate in pet insurance and discount programs. Additional perks include discounted shift meals, a health rewards program, a financial fitness program, employee assistance for work-life balance challenges, and opportunities for career growth within a supportive, team-oriented culture.
