The role of Traffic Control Officer at Mall of America plays a critical function in ensuring the smooth and safe flow of vehicles throughout the mall’s vast parking lots and ramps. This position involves directing traffic, assisting guests, and maintaining order in high-traffic areas during peak hours, weekends, holidays, and special events. A Traffic Control Officer works collaboratively with other mall safety and security divisions to monitor parking ramp conditions, report hazards, and support overall guest safety initiatives. This job requires excellent communication skills, adaptability to changing conditions, and the ability to work effectively in all weather conditions. The salary for this position starts at $19 per hour, reflecting the importance of the role in providing safety and efficiency on-site.
In this role, the officer will handle a variety of tasks that contribute to guest safety, including setting up and adjusting traffic cones to control vehicle lanes, guiding drivers and pedestrians safely through parking areas, and maintaining clear communication with supervisors and fellow officers via radio systems. The position requires a high level of professionalism and situational awareness to manage safety incidents, assist potentially at-risk guests, and respond to emergencies quickly. The Traffic Control Officer must be physically capable of standing for extended periods and performing duties that involve walking, bending, lifting, and operating in diverse weather conditions, from extreme heat to cold.
