Porter-Leath is a well-respected nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families through comprehensive programs that promote health, education, and family stability. Serving the community with compassion and professionalism, Porter-Leath focuses particularly on vulnerable populations including pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and young children. The organization’s Early Head Start Program is designed to provide high-quality early childhood education, nutritious meals, and family support services to infants and toddlers from birth to age three and a half. Through this program, Porter-Leath aims to foster the physical, social, and emotional development of young children while preparing families for long-term success within a safe and nurturing environment. The Floater position at Porter-Leath is a dynamic key role within the Early Head Start program, reporting directly to the Site Manager. This role primarily involves preparing and serving home-style meals tailored to the nutritional needs of infants and toddlers, ensuring adherence to Health Department regulations and USDA dietary guidelines. Beyond kitchen duties, the Floater assists with various kitchen operations, maintains cleanliness to meet hygiene standards, and supports the classroom by relieving teachers during break periods and acting as a substitute when necessary. The position emphasizes teamwork and responsibility, requiring close attention to maintaining records, complying with licensing standards, and contributing positively to the childcare environment.
