Founded in 2009, Joby aims to create an innovative network of piloted air taxis that offer a safe, quiet, and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional ground transportation. The company has diligently designed, developed, and tested multiple generations of prototype aircraft, embodying the vision of urban air mobility. Headquartered in Marina, California, within the scenic Monterey/Santa Cruz region, Joby Aviation is a beacon of aerospace innovation dedicated to achieving FAA certification and delivering on the promise of accessible urban flight. Their team is made up of passionate, skilled individuals who thrive on pushing the boundaries of technology and safety to create a new transportation paradigm. The Flight Test Safety Program Manager role at Joby Aviation is a critical position within the Safety Team, responsible for overseeing the safe conduct of flight testing activities essential to the development and certification of the aircraft. This role demands a professional with an in-depth understanding of flight test operations, aircraft safety systems, and Safety Management Systems (SMS). The manager will work closely with the Flight Test Team, ensuring that safety protocols are rigorously applied, incidents are thoroughly investigated, and corrective actions are both identified and effectively implemented. This position requires the candidate to manage the Flight Test Safety program across multiple departments, including Flight Test and Flight Test Maintenance, under the guidance of the Technical Safety Lead. Regular travel to offsite test locations within and outside the region is a component of this role, supporting critical flight test and demonstration operations.
