The City of Fayetteville is currently seeking a dedicated individual to join their team in a safety and security-sensitive role focused on airport operations. This full-time position plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, security, and efficient functioning of the airport, which is vital to the community’s connectivity and economic vitality. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers, ensuring positive and effective working relationships across teams, and maintaining a reliable presence that supports seamless operations.
Key responsibilities for this role include monitoring access to aircraft parking areas, moving aircraft in and out of hangars using hand and motor-driven tugs, parking, fueling, and securing aircraft, and managing baggage handling. The individual will also use airport and city radio networks to communicate effectively with aircraft, the Control Tower, and Line Control, balancing administrative tasks such as processing payments and preparing reports. Fuel management tasks are integral to the role, including refilling fuel service trucks, performing fuel quality tests, completing storage inspection reports, and maintaining fuel trucks and storage tanks.
Additional duties involve maintaining the parking apron free of debris, reporting maintenance issues, performing grounds and facility maintenance including custodial duties, and routine maintenance on airport vehicles and equipment. The position requires participation in an on-call rotation to respond to service calls outside normal operating hours and often serves as a backup for the Customer Service Team to provide assistance and convenience services. This role demands a high level of attention to safety, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently while making sound decisions. The work environment is physically demanding and involves exposure to noise, mechanical parts, chemicals, and varying weather conditions, thus requiring adherence to all safety protocols.
This full-time, non-uniformed role offers 40 or more hours per week and is eligible for all City benefits for full-time employees, including paid leave accruals. The City of Fayetteville prides itself on being an equal employment opportunity employer and supports a workplace culture where each employee’s contribution is valued.
