The Salvation Army is a globally recognized evangelical movement and part of the universal Christian church. Founded on the principles of the Bible and motivated by the love of God, the organization is committed to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ while meeting human needs without discrimination. The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, a vital extension of The Salvation Army mission, serves as a multi-purpose facility offering programs and services designed to strengthen, encourage, and enrich individuals across all age groups—children, adults, and seniors. Its core mission is to provide life-changing positive experiences through community-centered facilities and well-supported programs. The Kroc Center is known for its commitment to maintaining an environment that fosters well-being, inclusivity, and development for all who walk through its doors.
The Facility Lead position at the Kroc Center plays a crucial role in supporting this mission by overseeing all housekeeping, event setup, and related facility operations under the direct supervision of the Facility Manager. This part-time role, requiring 28 hours per week, demands a hands-on approach to managing and supervising the custodial and building services staff to ensure that the center remains clean, safe, and welcoming. The Facility Lead not only maintains day-to-day housekeeping but also coordinates staff scheduling, training, and development programs to uphold operational excellence. Additionally, the role involves managing event setups and teardowns, ranging from organizing tables, chairs, staging, barricades, pipe and drape to signage, thereby ensuring smooth transitions for the center’s numerous activities and events.
Compensation for this position ranges from $18 to $20 per hour, inclusive of excellent paid time off benefits—10 vacation days, 12 sick days (with a portion usable as vacation), 12 paid holidays, 2 personal days, and a unique wellness program offering the opportunity to earn an extra 2 PTO days. Beyond competitive pay and flexible scheduling, The Salvation Army offers a generous pension contribution, voluntary life insurance, and numerous other benefits that demonstrate its investment in employee well-being. The organization also provides paid training and encourages professional growth, making the Facility Lead role ideal for individuals seeking a meaningful career within a community-focused nonprofit organization.
This role demands flexibility to work varied hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and is part of a weekend opening rotation. The Facility Lead should be physically prepared to manage duties that include custodial responsibilities, minor maintenance tasks such as painting and plumbing, outdoor maintenance like snow and ice removal, and overseeing the upkeep of the grounds and pavilion. Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to follow safety protocols are essential to ensuring the facility operates at its highest standards.
