The company is currently seeking an Executive Sous Chef for its Social Club at the University Club in San Diego. This role holds a critical leadership position within the culinary team, directly supporting the Executive Chef and stepping in with full operational control when the Executive Chef is absent. The Executive Sous Chef’s responsibilities encompass overseeing daily kitchen operations, including meal planning, supply procurement for food and kitchen equipment, and directing meal production practices to uphold Invited’s rigorous quality standards.
Beyond operational oversight, the Executive Sous Chef ensures cost-effective management of the Food Preparation Department through strict adherence to budgetary guidelines and active cost control measures. The role demands a keen understanding and enforcement of health, sanitation, and licensing regulations, reinforcing Invited's commitment to the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
On a day-to-day basis, the Executive Sous Chef supervises kitchen staff, ensures cleanliness and safety in the kitchen environment, coordinates procurement and inventory, and analyzes production reports to optimize resources. Leadership extendsto team recruitment, scheduling, policy implementation for workplace safety, and serving as a key representative of the club in member interactions, including conducting daily table visits and gathering feedback to enhance guest satisfaction. This position serves as a developmental role, offering the Executive Sous Chef valuable experience and skills geared towards advancement to the Executive Chef position.
Candidates poised for success in this role are expected to possess a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of three years of sous chef experience, a health and sanitation card, and food service management certification such as Serve Safe. Ideally, candidates will also hold an advanced culinary degree or demonstrate proficiency in kitchen equipment, cost and labor controls, and contemporary culinary techniques.
