Ochsner Health is a renowned healthcare organization that has been dedicated to serving communities since its inception in 1942. Over the decades, Ochsner has consistently evolved while maintaining its core commitment to serve, heal, lead, educate, and innovate. This commitment is evident in every accolade they receive, every record they break, and every patient whose life they touch. The strength behind Ochsner's reputation is its dedicated employees who work tirelessly within its halls, contributing daily to its mission of improving health outcomes and elevating patient care. As an institution, Ochsner values the impact each employee has—whether directly interacting with patients or supporting those who do—to ensure a positive and meaningful difference is made. Joining Ochsner means becoming part of a team that believes in the power of healthcare to transform lives and communities. The current opportunity at Ochsner Health is for a vital role within their Environmental Services team. This position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and aseptic conditions across various areas including guest rooms, patient rooms, public zones, clinical spaces, and administrative offices. The role plays a key part in fostering a safe and hygienic environment, which is paramount in healthcare settings to prevent the spread of infection and promote patient safety. Successful candidates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to operate cleaning equipment such as dust mops, wet mops, buckets with wringers, spray bottles, and dustpans. While a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, it is not mandatory, and the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to follow instructions is essential. Candidates should also possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work flexible schedules, and demonstrate a willingness to work independently with minimal supervision. This position demands physical stamina, as it involves heavy work with occasional exertion of significant force to move objects and handle cleaning equipment. The role also involves regular exposure to chemicals, blood, body fluids, and other biological materials inherent to a healthcare setting. Therefore, adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations, including compliance with Joint Commission and CMS standards, is critical. Environmental Services team members are expected to uphold Ochsner’s Compliance and Privacy Program, promptly reporting any unethical behavior or safety concerns. The role offers opportunities to contribute to special cleaning projects and room turnovers and requires maintaining environmental closets and equipment in a clean and organized state. At Ochsner, inclusivity and equal opportunity employment practices are upheld, ensuring that all qualified candidates receive consideration without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability status, or veteran status. Ochsner values diversity and fosters a supportive work environment where employees can thrive. Interested candidates should apply formally through Ochsner’s career website, acknowledging that certain remote work positions may not be available in specific states due to regulatory restrictions. For those who require accommodations during the application process, Ochsner provides dedicated support to ensure accessibility. This role is integral to the overall healthcare delivery mechanism at Ochsner, assuring cleanliness and safety, which are foundational elements of high-quality patient care and service excellence.
