The role available at Ticasuk Brown Elementary School is for a Nutrition Services/Kitchen Manager, an essential position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the nutrition services department within the school. This role ensures that nutritious, high-quality, and cost-effective meals are consistently provided not only to students but also to staff, parents, and the community. Working approximately 6 hours a day, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM across a nine-month work year, this role offers a structured yet dynamic work schedule. The hourly pay ranges from $19.19 to $21.46, depending on experience, under the Grade 4A classification, aligned with the Education Support Staff Association (ESSA) negotiated agreement.
The Nutrition Services/Kitchen Manager is entrusted with managing the entire food service operation, emphasizing efficiency, compliance with health and safety regulations, and excellent customer service. The successful candidate will supervise kitchen staff, manage inventory and supplies, and ensure the correct usage and maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment such as steam tables, convection ovens, coolers, and freezers. With the health and welfare of young students as a priority, this role requires a commitment to food safety standards, including obtaining and maintaining ServeSafe certification within the first 45 days of employment.
Mathematical aptitude is necessary for inventory management, cost control, and preparation calculations. The manager also handles confidential data relating to meal programs and staff, requiring discretion and professionalism. Due to the position's location within a school that may require access to military installations, a valid Alaska driver’s license and a personal vehicle are essential for commuting and work-related travel.

- high school diploma or equivalent
- one year of experience using commercial kitchen equipment, customer service, food preparation, and supervisory experience
