The position available is for a Restaurant General Manager, a pivotal role responsible for the overall operations and fiscal success of the restaurant. This leadership role involves managing the team, maintaining product integrity, and ensuring strict compliance with company policies and government regulations. The Restaurant General Manager will act as the central point of communication for the team and be instrumental in securing company assets, including cash, equipment, and inventory, in line with established policies. This full-time role demands a candidate with a strong background in restaurant operations, people management, and financial control.
The Restaurant General Manager's core responsibilities include recruiting, training, and developing assistant managers, shift managers, and team members to build a capable and motivated workforce. Creating and sustaining a positive work environment is essential, alongside conducting timely performance reviews and addressing employee relations with constructive discipline when necessary. The role requires maintaining excellent communication channels among all shifts, developing a strong management team, and escalating complex issues to district or assistant managers as needed.
In terms of guest services, the Restaurant General Manager ensures that the restaurant continuously meets and surpasses guest standards. Leading by example, this leader will drive 100 percent guest satisfaction by effectively addressing complaints and empowering staff to resolve issues quickly. Financial responsibilities cover managing labor costs, food and supply expenses, audits, and cash handling while protecting company assets diligently.
Operationally, the Restaurant General Manager is tasked with maintaining cleanliness, preventing maintenance issues, adhering to safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with all municipal, state, and federal regulations related to health and food safety. They must oversee training programs, ensure operational manuals are current, and lead the team in following proper opening and closing procedures.
Furthermore, the role includes marketing duties such as implementing company marketing programs, recognizing business patterns, and scheduling shifts to maximize customer traffic and sales.
Key relationships for the Restaurant General Manager extend to the restaurant team, management, vendors, and customers. This role requires fostering trust, maintaining open communication, and representing the company positively to uphold brand integrity and build customer loyalty.
Ideal candidates will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least three years of restaurant management experience that includes profit and loss accountability and shift management without supervision. Advanced studies in business or restaurant management are preferred, as is food safety certification. Reliable transportation along with a valid driver’s license and insurance is necessary for positions requiring driving. The candidate should demonstrate personal effectiveness, organizational skills, collaborative spirit, management capability, and strong analytical skills, enabling them to address challenges independently and lead the restaurant toward operational success.
