The Freight Forwarder Ocean Import position is based in North Charleston, USA, within the Air & Sea division of DSV. This full-time role plays a critical part in managing the importation of goods by ocean freight. Responsibilities include handling all logistics aspects such as carrier booking, customs clearance, cargo tracking, and final delivery arrangements. The role requires effective coordination with various stakeholders including carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies to ensure shipments are delivered on time and in compliance with all trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies. The Freight Forwarder will be responsible for preparing and submitting all necessary documentation such as commercial invoices, bills of lading, and customs paperwork. Exceptional customer service is also key to the role, as the Freight Forwarder manages relationships with clients throughout the shipping process to provide timely updates and resolve any issues that arise. This position demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Candidates with prior freight forwarding or logistics experience, especially in ocean imports, will find this opportunity rewarding. - Prior experience in freight forwarding logistics or a related field is preferred
- Experience in ocean imports is highly desirable
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations such as calculating costs and rates
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
