The role of the Delivery Assistant at Builders FirstSource is essential in ensuring smooth and efficient delivery operations. This position assists drivers in delivering customer orders, helps with loading and unloading products, and may drive a pilot vehicle for oversize loads. Importantly, this role does not require a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) license and generally involves driving company vans or pickup trucks under 10,000 Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). The work is performed under the guidance of a department supervisor or manager, maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and customer service. The Delivery Assistant supports the logistics team by ensuring products are properly secured using motorized or manual material handling equipment, driving pilot vehicles safely in compliance with regulations, and inspecting delivery vehicles regularly. The role requires planning and pacing work to meet various productivity goals while adhering to all safety procedures to protect both the employee and coworkers. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on delivering excellence in the building materials supply chain.
