This job opportunity is for the position of Housekeeper at the Illinois Department of Corrections, specifically at the Joliet Treatment Center. This full-time, salaried role offers an anticipated starting salary of $3,930 per month with a full salary range between $3,930 and $5,094 per month, governed by the collective bargaining agreement applicable to corrections employees. As a Housekeeper, the selected candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygienic conditions of assigned living quarters and administrative areas within a secure correctional facility context. The role demands a professional who can work diligently to clean offices, living spaces, lobbies, bathrooms, showers, hallways, training rooms, and other designated areas. Utilizing specialized cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and effectively is a key part of the job. Working at a correctional facility requires patience, firmness, and a strong commitment to safety, as the personnel will interact with patients and individuals in custody. The Housekeeper’s duties include cleaning various surfaces such as woodwork, ceilings, windows, fixtures, and restrooms, as well as maintaining adequate supplies and ensuring that cleaning activities adhere to health and safety standards. This position requires working hours from 6 am to 2 pm, Wednesday through Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday off. The work is physically demanding and may involve exposure to challenging conditions including uneven walking surfaces and biohazards.
