The position of Events Manager for Eliot Society Programs within University Advancement is a pivotal role responsible for orchestrating key events that further strengthen ties between WashU and its extended community. Reporting directly to the Director of Eliot Society Programs, the Events Manager is entrusted with the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of special events both locally in St. Louis and regionally across the country. This role requires a dynamic individual who is adept at managing multiple facets of event operations—from contracting and logistics to communications and onsite execution.
This full-time role is based in St. Louis, MO, with scheduled hours amounting to 37.5 per week. The targeted salary range is between $53,100 and $62,000, reflective of the qualifications and experience brought to the position. The role demands regular travel to support off-campus events, emphasizing flexibility and strong organizational skills. The Events Manager will collaborate closely with several teams, including the Special Events and University Ceremonies team and the Eliot Society Experience team, ensuring every event fosters a meaningful donor experience and supports the University's advancement goals.
Key responsibilities include managing contracts, reserving venues, coordinating with communications for invitations, overseeing mailing projects, creating event timelines and logistical plans, and assisting with speaker arrangements and seating charts. The role also entails preparing briefing materials and talking points for university leadership and managing onsite logistics to ensure seamless event delivery. This multifaceted position plays a vital role in cultivating lasting connections which are essential to the university’s advancement and ongoing success.
Candidates with at least two years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree are preferred. Higher education experience, particularly within a complex university environment, is advantageous. Essential interpersonal skills, the ability to work autonomously while maintaining attention to detail, and a strong work ethic are critical for success.
