The Kenton County Airport Board (KCR) operates the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), a major transportation hub serving the tri-state area. CVG manages both passenger and cargo operations, supporting millions of travelers and logistics operations each year. The Public Safety Assistant role is a non-sworn uniformed position responsible for vital security operations at CVG. This position involves conducting vehicle and personnel searches, escorting vendors, contractors, and charter vehicles on the Airport Operations Area (AOA), and assisting the airport community by providing critical information and directions. This role supports the KCAB/CVGAA Airport Security Plan and complies with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) federal mandates, contributing to the overall safety and security of the airport environment. Public Safety Assistants play a frontline role in protecting airport customers, staff, and infrastructure by performing thorough security inspections and providing exceptional customer service. The position requires constant vigilance, clear communication, and the ability to work cooperatively with internal teams and external partners. Additionally, specialized training may be provided for handling lost and found retrieval to enhance service to the public. This role demands physical activity including standing, walking, climbing, and the use of hand-held metal detectors, combined with the responsibility of operating vehicles safely within ramp areas. Individuals in this role must demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills and be adept at maintaining respectful and collaborative relationships across multiple stakeholders. This position is ideal for candidates with prior experience in law enforcement, security, military, or customer service in high-stakes environments. Candidates should hold at least a high school diploma or GED and possess a valid driver's license along with the ability to maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance.
