The role of Customs Broker - Licensed located in Torrance, CA is a full-time, exempt position classified as direct hire with working hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position is perfect for an experienced U.S. Customs Broker who holds an active Customs Broker License and has a comprehensive understanding of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, as well as international trade procedures. The primary responsibility of the Customs Broker is to oversee import clearance operations to ensure shipments move through U.S. Customs smoothly and efficiently, managing the full import entry process and maintaining strict compliance with all regulatory requirements.
In this critical role, the Customs Broker will handle end-to-end customs entry procedures for international shipments, including preparing and submitting accurate documentation through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) system. They will review and verify import documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin for accuracy and compliance with U.S. Customs and partner government agencies, including FDA, USDA, and EPA. Classification of imported goods within the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) will be a key duty, as well as determining the applicable duties, taxes, and fees to ensure proper reporting and payment.
The successful candidate will ensure full adherence to all U.S. import regulations, promptly responding to customs requests like CF28 or CF29 notices. The broker will act as the primary liaison for clients, carriers, government officials, and overseas partners, maintaining professional and timely communication on clearance matters. Additionally, this role involves offering clients guidance on import compliance, duty reduction strategies, and customs programs such as drawback or quota management.
This position demands close collaboration with internal freight forwarding and operations teams to support seamless logistics handling from pre-alert through final delivery. The Customs Broker will also monitor regulatory and procedural changes in international trade, driving process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.                 - Active U.S. Customs Broker License
 - Relevant hands-on experience in customs brokerage import compliance or freight forwarding
 - Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and international trade policies
 - Ability to classify goods under HTS and manage duties taxes and fees
 - Proficiency with ACE system and related customs brokerage platforms
 - Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
 - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
 - Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel Word and Outlook
 - Availability to work full-time from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
 - Experience with Japan-related trade considered a plus
