Job Summary

The Customer Service Agent is often the first face of Southwest Airlines that our Customers see. In this dynamic role, you are responsible for the entire ground experience, from the ticket counter to the boarding gate. You are a problem-solver, a host, and an operations specialist rolled into one. Whether you are rebooking a passenger during a snowstorm or high-fiving a child on their first flight, your impact is immediate and significant. You will work in a fast-paced airport environment where no two days are the same.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Ticketing & Check-In: Greet Customers, verify identification, issue boarding passes, and tag checked luggage. You will handle payment transactions and assist with kiosk operations, ensuring a smooth start to the journey.
  • Gate Operations: Manage the boarding process at the gate. This includes making announcements, verifying boarding groups (A, B, C), managing carry-on luggage compliance, and operating the jet bridge to connect to the aircraft.
  • Operational Recovery: During irregular operations (delays, cancellations), you are the calm in the storm. You will rebook passengers, provide vouchers, and offer empathetic service to frustrated travelers.
  • Baggage Service Office: Assist Customers with lost, delayed, or damaged luggage claims. You will track bags and coordinate their return, turning a negative situation into a positive resolution.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all TSA and FAA security mandates are followed. You are responsible for verifying travel documents and monitoring the security of the gate area.
