Georgetown, TX, USA, TX Full-Time Negotiable
St. Helen Catholic Church, located in Georgetown, Texas, serves as a vibrant parish community entrusted to the leadership of the Pastor by the Bishop. As a key institution within the Diocese of Austin, St. Helen embodies a mission centered on making Christ's presence and mission visible and enduring through various ministries and community engagements. The parish operates as a collaborative environment where clerics, religious members, and laypeople work together to extend the ministry of the Pastor in meaningful ways. This collaboration ensures that the church’s mission to evangelize and nurture faith is effectively accomplished within the community it serves. The Coordinator of Middle School Ministry plays a pivotal role within St. Helen Catholic Church, tasked with the evangelization and faith formation of middle school students. This position is more than administrative; it is a ministry that involves inspiring young parishioners to deepen their relationship with Christ and integrate fully into parish life. The Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading regular weekly faith formation sessions focused on middle schoolers, alongside coordinating sacramental preparation programs for this age group. The role requires a deep understanding of Catholic teachings and the ability to develop and implement curriculum aligned with the Religious Education Guidelines and Evangelization Catechesis Manual of the Diocese of Austin. In addition to curricular development, the Coordinator organizes middle school events, including offsite and overnight retreats, designed to motivate students to actively participate in the life of the parish. A key aspect of the position is communication – both with families and with catechists – ensuring consistent engagement and support for middle school faith formation. The Coordinator also oversees the recruitment, training, and supervision of catechists, managing volunteer efforts, and ensuring compliance with diocesan safe environment programs such as VIRTUS, Safeguard the Children, and Empowering God’s Children. The position demands a multi-faceted skill set including pastoral sensitivity, effective communication skills (in both English and Spanish), organizational capability, and proficiency with various technological tools such as word processing and database software. Working closely with the Pastor, staff, and volunteers, the Coordinator must be flexible in scheduling, available to meet the needs of the parish during and outside of normal office hours, including weekends and evenings. This role is vital in translating the mission of St. Helen into actionable youth ministry that fosters spiritual growth and a lasting commitment to the Catholic faith among middle school students.
