The Senior Living Community Cook is a key member of our dietary team responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, appealing, and balanced meals according to established menu plans. This position plays an important role in enhancing residents' quality of life by ensuring they receive meals that are safely prepared, properly seasoned, and in accordance with dietary guidelines. The cook must be adept at handling meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, fruits, soups, salads, desserts, breads, and pastries, ensuring all meals meet our high standards for taste and presentation. This part-time opportunity offers a competitive pay rate of $26.00 per hour and an employment classification of non-exempt status. Work schedules are flexible, with several full-time and part-time options available to accommodate various availability. Shifts include Saturday through Wednesday or Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., as well as a part-time Thursday through Sunday 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This position requires a dedicated individual who understands the importance of food safety, proper handling techniques, portion control, and efficient kitchen operations. As a cook with MorningStar Senior Living, you will use your culinary skills to prepare large quantities of food while complying with meal schedules and standard recipes. You will have the autonomy to make independent decisions that reflect your experience and creativity, all while ensuring residents' dietary needs and preferences are met. The role involves prepping food by washing, peeling, trimming, and cutting fruits and vegetables, as well as handling meats and fish with care and expertise. Your responsibilities will also include taste testing to maintain quality, cooking by various methods such as baking, roasting, stewing, and steaming, and preparing complementary items such as gravies, sauces, soups, and beverages.   • High school diploma preferred but minimum ability to read and write English
