The role of Cook at California Fish Grill is a hands-on position responsible for preparing and directing the preparation of food items in compliance with established food production programs, sanitation, and health standards. As a Cook, you will play a a critical role in ensuring that every dish served meets the brand’s strict quality, temperature, and appearance guidelines. You will be accountable to both the Restaurant General Manager and Training General Manager, collaborating closely to maintain seamless kitchen operations. Core responsibilities include managing food supplies, setting up steam tables, storing food safely, completing production records, and maintaining cleanliness and equipment hygiene. In this position, you will also be required to perform food temperature checks before service and adhere to strict personal hygiene and uniform policies. The Cook must demonstrate a strong working knowledge of restaurant operations, food safety and sanitation, and quality guest service. Safety in the workplace is paramount; thus, compliance with fire, safety, disaster plans, and risk management procedures is required. The successful candidate should be able to cooperate effectively with team members, exhibit excellent communication skills, and promote a positive environment for guests and family members alike. Essential skills include the ability to read and write moderately, manual dexterity, physical capability to stand, reach, lift, bend, and carry up to 50 pounds, and auditory and visual acuity.
