We are currently seeking a dedicated part-time cook who enjoys working in a team environment and values the importance of contributing to residents' and patients' quality of life. This role involves working from 11am to 7pm for three days a week, totaling 22.5 hours, including every other weekend. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing menus and production sheets to determine food quantities needed for regular, mechanically altered, and special diets. They will prepare food items as assigned, test cooked foods by tasting and smelling samples, and ensure all sanitation and safety standards are strictly adhered to during preparation, cooking, and production line stages. Besides food preparation, the cook will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and upkeep of both equipment and the general kitchen work area. Supervising food cooking processes to ensure correct temperatures for holding and serving, and assisting in the distribution of foodstuffs are essential duties of this position. The candidate will be part of a dynamic team that values high quality and pride in food service, with a strong emphasis on residents' privacy, dignity, and respectful treatment. This position requires a candidate who is at least 18 years old, possesses a high school diploma or equivalent preferred, and has previous experience in food preparation. The ability to understand and organize food preparation activities and to perform cooking tasks safely and efficiently is essential. Knowledge of food preparation and production processes is necessary, alongside personal cleanliness and hygiene suitable for food service roles. Moreover, excellent communication skills in English at an intermediate or advanced level are required to ensure clear interaction with residents, coworkers, supervisors, and visitors, facilitating a safe and effective workplace.
