The full-time Cook position at Ochsner LSU Shreveport in Shreveport, Louisiana, offers an employment opportunity with Morrison Healthcare to be part of a mission-driven team focused on transforming the healthcare dining experience. The Cook role primarily involves preparing food according to federal, state, and corporate standards to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality meals to patients, staff, and visitors. This position requires healthcare large volume cooking experience and a commitment to maintaining hygiene and food safety protocols such as HACCP standards. The work schedule is full-time with variable days and hours, including every other weekend, accommodating the busy and dynamic environment typical of healthcare food service operations. Cook responsibilities include preparing meals according to standardized recipes, ensuring proper portioning, tasting food items to maintain quality, and utilizing correct food temperature controls. The Cook also assists with production planning, record-keeping, ordering and receiving food and supplies, and ensures the cleanliness and safety of kitchen areas and equipment. Maintaining good working relationships with coworkers and supervisors, adhering to company safety policies such as using protective gloves and slip-resistant shoes, and participating in safety and in-service meetings are essential parts of the role.
