The role of Events Leader within the City of Ormond Beach is a pivotal position tasked with overseeing and executing the full spectrum of duties related to city-sponsored events. This includes hands-on involvement in event set-up and strike, staging, and managing audio and lighting systems to ensure every function runs smoothly and efficiently. The Events Leader operates under the guidance of the Events Coordinator and may be required to work during weekdays, evenings, and weekends to meet the demands of event schedules. This position is integral in planning and implementing special events city-wide, providing hospitality services, and maintaining all event-related equipment such as staging and audiovisual instruments. The Events Leader performs light carpentry tasks, keeps detailed records and inventory of equipment, and assists in coordinating volunteers and contracted labor. Additionally, the role involves designing brochures and promotional materials to market city programs and facilities effectively. The ability to handle overtime and emergency call-outs is necessary, reflecting the dynamic and sometimes unpredictable nature of event management. Ideal candidates will bring a blend of technical skills, organizational capabilities, and customer service aptitude. They should be proficient in maintaining technical equipment, possess knowledge of event programming, and exhibit strong communication skills. The job also requires physical endurance and the ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to inclement weather and potentially lifting heavy objects up to seventy-five pounds. Employment in this role is classified under Pay Grade 107 with a minimum hourly rate starting at $16.08. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with vocational or specialized training preferred. Certification in CPR with AED is required within the first three months of employment. A valid Florida driver’s license is also mandatory to fulfill job responsibilities.
